Outcomes Data

Undergraduate

The three separate programs of the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department each provide capstone core courses in their curriculum required of all majors. As part of our assessment effort students are assessed in these capstone courses to determine whether the program learning objectives have been met. Progress made in achieving the learning objectives is assessed through exit interviews and random surveys of students in each of the program. The questions asked reflect the effectiveness of courses in meeting the outcomes for that course.

In addition specifically in the area of Parks and Recreation there is an outside review process each five years. The review is conducted by a visitor from the National Recreation and Parks Association Council on Accreditation. Students are assessed through interviews concerning the content covered in courses and how this measures up to the national standards. Visit the National standards for NRPA.

The success of our graduates is determined through a survey process that is conducted annually of recent graduates from the three programs. The survey is designed to determine the status of the graduates relative to current employment, starting salaries, whether the current job is in the field of study, whether work is full or part-time and if they are continuing their education.
