Research
Dr. Foley conducts research examining the development of phonological awareness and phonological representation in individuals with severe speech and physical impairments. She is also Co-PI on an interdisciplinary project designed to train speech-language pathology, audiology, and deaf education students to work with children from birth to 5 who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Projects and Grants
Assessment of Phonological Awareness in Children with Severe Speech and Physical Impairments, AAC Assessment and Intervention, Facilitating Literacy Development in Individuals who use AAC.
$40,000 from the Daniels fund to acquire augmentative and alternative communication technology for the Department of Communicative Disorders and Deaf Education Assistive Technology program.
$5,000 from the Watkins Family to support the activities of the Department of Communicative Disorders and Deaf Education Assistive Technology program.
$2.5 million foundation to support an interdisciplinary graduate training program in auditory-oral early intervention for children who are deaf or hard of hearing.
$37,000 CURI grant to investigate phonological representation abilities in children who use augmentative and alternative communication. (With Dr. Sandi Gillam)
